India and Indonesia to develop ports in the Indian Ocean

Indonesia and India plan to step up cooperation in the defence and maritime sectors and develop a strategic Indonesian naval port in the Indian Ocean. India’s decision to work closely with Indonesia in these sectors emanates from its “Act East” policy of developing stronger ties with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
