Dry-bulk shipping industry recovering with modest demand growth and subdued scrapping

The dry bulk shipping industry is witnessing better-than-expected growth in demand even as growth in ordering and scrapping remain lacklustre. The three main size-based segments moved from loss-making average earnings seen last year to moderate profits in the first four months of 2018. Dry bulk demolition fared the worst during the first four months as it was down by 73% compared to the same period last year.
